INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2010 - 2011
Towards the end of their studies, the students of the School of Computer and Communication Sciences (I&C) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) have the opportunity to do an internship at companies or universities all over the world.
An internship gives a company or a university the chance to host a highly qualified student in the area of computer science and communication systems. The host defines a topic related to the field and typically offers a salary covering the living expenses during the internship as well as part of the travel expenses.
Students of the School of Computer and Communication Sciences are usually fluent in French and English, and many of them do have a good knowledge of German. By the end of their studies, they have the level of a master of science with a double major in EE and CS. In their first two years, the students acquire a solid knowledge in the basics of mathematics, physics, electrical engineering and computer science, including C and Java programming. During the next three years, the students take courses in various fields including artificial intelligence, automatic speech recognition, bioinformatics, coding and information theory, communications signal processing, computer vision, distributed systems, fixed and wireless communication, human computer interaction, image processing, industrial automation, internet, middleware, multimedia communication, Networking, operating Systems, programming languages, security, verification.
