Welcome to the Musée BoloWhether you're nostalgic for old computers or a fan of the latest technology, the Musée Bolo has something to interest you. Through exhibits centered on different themes, you'll discover the great classics of an object that's now commonplace - the computer. Museum NightLike every year, the Bolo Museum at EPFL participates in the Museum Night of Lausanne. In SwitzerlandSwitzerland has been very active in the field of information technology since the 1950s. With the advent of the personal computer, EPFL has continued the tradition. The school was the crucible for several developments, including the Smaky computer, the Scrib portable computer, and the first computer mice, which would launch Logitech. You'll find all these at the Musée Bolo, along with a Lilith workstation designed in Zurich by the inventor of the Pascal language. Computing for EveryoneWhen we talk about computing for everyone, we're talking first and foremost about personal computers, which got their start in the mid-1970s with simple electronic kits. A few years later, personal computing boomed with names like Commodore, Apple, Atari, and Sinclair. Computers designed for business use developed as well; the first portables, for example, date from this time. Science and FunThe history of computing is also the history of calculation. The Musée Bolo presents several calculators, from mechanical calculating machines to pocket calculators that are in a class with real computers. The world of fun is represented too, with a selection of gaming consoles.
