Amin Karbasi (EPFL), PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Martin Vetterli and Prof. Ruediger Urbanke, and Sewoong Oh (Stanford) received a best paper award at the ACM Sigmetrics 2010 for their paper "Distributed Sensor Network Localization from Local Connectivity: Performance Analysis for the HOP-TERRAIN Algorithm". |
Prof. Urbanke receives the 2011 Koji Kobayashi Award
Professor Ruediger Urbanke and his Qualcomm colleague Tom Richardson received the 2011 Koji Kobayashi Award “for developing the theory and practice of transmitting data reliably at rates approaching channel capacity.”
| Van Duzer Prize for the best contributed paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity François Roy from the Applied Superconductivity Laboratory (IC-SCI-BD) headed by the Senior Scientist Bertrand Dutoit has been
awarded by the Van Duzer Prize for the best contributed, non-conference paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity. The article Magneto-Thermal Modeling of Second-Generation HTS for Resistive Fault Current Limiter Design Purposes describe coated conductors coupled electromagnetic and thermal modelling as well as its verification by experimental measurements in the EPFL lab. This work will allow the realization of Fault Current Limiters for a safer and more efficient use of electric power grids. |
